Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Effective Date: May 2023

Meet The Authors is a website that offers various tools, resources, and services for authors who want to self-publish their books. We are a community of authors who support and inspire each other to achieve our writing goals and dreams. We believe that diversity and inclusion are essential for our success and innovation, as they enrich our creativity, perspectives, and experiences.

Our diversity and inclusion policy’s purpose is to:

  • Promote equality, fairness, and respect for all on our website, whether as members, staff, partners, or visitors

  • Not unlawfully discriminate because the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origin), religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation

  • Oppose and avoid all forms of unlawful discrimination. This includes membership plans, access to tools, resources, and services, participation in events and activities, selection for opportunities and recognition, feedback and complaints

  • Foster a culture of inclusion where everyone feels valued, welcomed, and empowered to contribute their unique talents and perspectives

Our commitments

We commit to:

  • Encourage diversity and inclusion in our website as they are good practices and make business sense

  • Create a website environment free of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all members are recognised and valued

  • Provide training and guidance for our staff on diversity and inclusion issues and best practices

  • Monitor and review our diversity and inclusion performance and progress regularly

  • Seek feedback from our members, staff, partners, and visitors on how we can improve our diversity and inclusion practices

  • Take seriously complaints of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination by anyone during our website activities. Such acts will be dealt with as misconduct under our code of conduct or disciplinary procedures, and appropriate action will be taken

We hope you find this policy useful and helpful. If you have any questions or suggestions on how we can improve our diversity and inclusion practices, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Thank you for being part of our community!
